Heage Windmill

The Hairy Bikers visit

The UK’s most popular culinary duo went on a nostalgic trip enjoying delights of the northern counties of England, including Derbyshire. Heage Windmill had the privilege of being visited by Dave Myers and Si King back in August 2021; as seen on The Hairy Bikers Go North – The Peak District, Episode 7.

Dave and Si biked down the long lane that leads to the six-sailed windmill. Where they were met by a wonderful group of volunteers who took them on a tour around the windmill and getting to view the milling process. Both complimented us on the quality of our stone ground flour which had already been featured when they duo made some oatcakes.

Special thank you to Dave and Si for making a big impression on all who met you on the day of your visit.

“The Hairy Bikers are as warm and genuine as they appear on screen. Their Go North series has been utterly compelling because these guys have such a passion for traditional, locally produced food. So, it’s little wonder Dave and Si were so drawn to our windmill, enabling them to see our flour being milled in the time-honoured way.”

In honour of Dave Myers

Dave Myers passing has saddened us all at Heage Windmill. To all that have known him and for those privileged to have met Dave; you have made a tremendous impact on us all. Dave was encouraging, hilarious, calming and a lovely guy. His professionalism and experience did not prevent him from being helpful and understanding, a true gentleman. Being able to create and share great local food with the world but also capturing the essence of the places he visited.

Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends. Dave will always be remembered at Heage Windmill.
